She walks in beauty morning, noon, and evening.

In the giddy bustle of modern life, there are few persons that exert a life-long imprint on human lives more than parents, a particular minister, or a special classroom teacher.

Author, Linda Martin, in artistic strokes has directed our attention to Bo (Lela) Buice, a brilliant teacher and heroine, who early in life rejected brashness, class warfare, and incivility, to achieve remarkable social progress in the public arena and at her church through her quiet persuasiveness, biblical solidity and all-embracing Christian love. As Linda Martin expertly reveals, Bo Buice is attended by a rainbow of optimism, wit, compassion and success.

Bo feels passionately that the tragedies in her life were allowed by God and used in making her the person she is today, at age 91, and helping her in finding her life-mate, Luke, and in the rearing of her famous son, Ervin, (theatrical name, Jason Byce). Bo’s early philosophy was influenced by her father, longtime pastor of the First Baptist Church, Buford, Georgia and a strong leader in the area of stewardship, and her godly mother. Without initiative on her part, and with the highest congregational vote, Bo was ordained the first female deacon of the Roswell First Baptist Church, Roswell, Georgia in 1987.

This is a story about the aging process – how one woman aged gracefully through the ups and downs of life, through triumph and tragedy. The reader will discover that the human dilemma can be aided by a strong faith in God, a love for others, and a will to carry on, despite severe setbacks. Our elderly people are our second best natural resource. Let us not put them away, but rather learn from them.

Twenty Baptist Trailblazers in World History.
